The World Affairs Council of Charleston (SC) announces its first international business luncheon for 2020, with a focus on Germany.

Dynamic Local German Company Rising; KION North America

Our next international luncheon program will feature KION North America Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial trucks and the largest manufacturer of electric forklifts. Mr. Daniel Schlegel, Vice-President Operations will provide an update and history of this fascinating and successful company.

KION North America serves the U.S., Canada and Mexico from its headquarters in Summerville, SC, with major global brands including Linde, Baoli and STILL. The company also works closely with its sister company Dematic, the global leader in automated material handling, which provides a comprehensive range of intelligent supply chain and automation solutions.

KION North America received its largest order in company history in August 2019 from Menards, a large retailer in Wisconsin. Menards operates 325 stores in 14 Midwest states. The order called for over 600 Linde industrial trucks, which run on lithium-ion batteries, and several STILL industrial trucks fully automated by Dematic.

KION North America's corporate social responsibility initiative "Lifting Up the Lowcountry Outreach Program," received the Outreach Award at the 2019 South Carolina Manufacturing Conference. This initiative has been active in helping the community through donations such as a Linde pallet truck to the Lowcountry Food Bank in May 2019.

Mr. Schlegel holds engineering and business administration degrees from West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

KION North America is a division of the KION Group, Frankfurt, Germany.
