Evening Speaker Series

World Affairs Council of Charleston hosts a minimum of six expert speakers each year. These evening events feature distinguished presenters from the U.S. government, nongovernmental organizations, the military, academia, think tanks, and the business community.
About half of our events are held on The Citadel campus, with ample parking nearby. Following a meet-and-greet reception with free food and drinks at 5:15 PM, the speaker offers a thought-provoking presentation on an international topic at 6:00 PM, followed by a lively Q&A. The meeting concludes at 7:00 PM.
Entry is free for members. Guests are welcome to come to one meeting before joining. The guest fee of $30 is payable at the event or with advance registration online, and may be credited to the membership dues upon joining.
A new partnership with the Charleston Library Society has enabled us to host additional events in their beautiful historic library in downtown Charleston. Doors open at 5:30 PM and complimentary wine and water are available. The speaker presentation runs from 6:00 - 7:00 PM and includes Q&A.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION FOR EVENTS AT THE LIBRARY IS REQUIRED ON THE CLS WEBSITE. Entry to partner events is free for WACC and CLS members, but they must still register in advance. Nonmembers may purchase general registration tickets (price varies).
Some of these events feature a book author, with book sales and signing available after the presentation, courtesy of Buxton Books.
