The World Affairs Council of Charleston hosted our 3rd Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) Competition on Saturday, March 2nd, at Charleston Southern University. Charleston Southern, United Bank, and the Donaldson Charitable Trust co-sponsored the event. Three schools were represented in the competition: Academic Magnet High School (2 teams), Ashley Hall (2 teams), and the Charleston Charter School for Math & Science (1 team).

Congratulations to the M.A.D. Lads from Academic Magnet! The team members are:  Abram Shuler, Kabir Zaman, Colin George, and Finn Hayes, and they are coached by teacher Andrew Rusciolelli.

The team and their chaperones traveled to Washington D.C. April 19-20 to compete in the national AWQ event hosted by the World Affairs Councils of America. All expenses are paid by sponsors and donations from World Affairs Council of Charleston members. The team will be one of several dozen teams of local winners from around the country.

The M.A.D. Lads tied for 14th in a field of 37 schools! Congratulations!
